Job Description
Job Title: Hygiene Officer – Catering Establishment
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Hygiene Officer for our catering establishment. This role is crucial for establishing and maintaining strict hygiene standards, ensuring food safety, and managing supplier relationships. The Hygiene Officer will work closely with the Quality Control (QC) team and the Regional Hygiene Supervisor to implement and uphold catering hygiene and safety requirements across various sites.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Hygiene Standards & Food Safety:
- Establish and maintain strict hygiene standards for catering operations.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines and site procedures during service implementation.
- Observe and enforce proper hygiene practices, including wearing the required uniform, hair net, mask, apron, and gloves.
- Quality Control & Coordination:
- Collaborate with QC to conduct weekly hygiene inspections and audits for each site kitchen.
- Ensure that all catering suppliers maintain clean and hygienic conditions for dining halls, kitchens, food stores, and other facilities.
- Oversee that kitchen equipment, utensils, and tableware are washed and sanitized after each meal as per specifications.
- Labeling & Reporting:
- Ensure all food items are correctly labeled with content information such as name, calories, expiry date, and allergens.
- Provide accurate and timely hygiene and food safety reports to the Regional Hygiene Supervisor.
- Training & Development:
- Plan and handle supplier development and conduct regular food hygiene training sessions on a monthly basis.
- Stay updated with food safety standards, including HACCP, SOP, and SSOP programs, and ensure their implementation.
- Event Catering:
- Oversee the preparation and hygiene of venues for events and manage all event catering-related services.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma from an approved catering institution or in hotel management.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in industrial or hotel catering at the management level.
- Certifications:
- Certified in HACCP System, ISO 22000, with OSHA or NEBOSH Certificate.
- Skills:
- Good command of the English language.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of hospitality standards and customer service excellence.
- Ability to build rapport with diverse audiences and influence decision-making.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Attributes:
- Self-motivated and proactive with a strong focus on quality control and safety.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel within different regions of the country.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to train and motivate staff.
