Electrical Design Engineer

Position: Electrical Design Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Standards and Guidelines Knowledge:
- Familiarity with TRANSCO, OETC, ADDC, SEC, and KSA standards, including Grid Codes, IEC, IEEE, and other international guidelines.

- Design Documentation:
- Preparation of design documents including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Protection & Control schematics, and layout drawings.

- Procurement and Evaluation:
- Prepare requisitions and perform technical evaluation of bids for material and equipment procurement.

- Issue Resolution:
- Identify, evaluate, and resolve Electrical Engineering issues during the EPC phase.

- Review and Approval:
- Review and approve EPC Contractor key deliverables and other works within the Electrical discipline, ensuring compliance with design requirements.

- Calculations and Studies:
- Perform calculations and studies required to finalize electrical equipment specifications, including transformer sizing, cable sizing, earthing, lightning systems, battery sizing, lighting, and small power layouts.
- Conduct electrical system studies such as short circuit, load flow, relay setting, insulation coordination, Grid Impact, and Grid Compliance.

- Software Proficiency:
- Proficient in electrical design and system studies software such as Electrical AutoCAD, DigSilent, ETAP, etc.

- Document Review:
- Review and approve key design documents from vendors, equipment manufacturers, or subcontractors. Prepare comments and recommendations incorporating feedback from the Owner.

- Supervision and Management:
- Supervise and manage the review and approval of EPC Contractor’s work, ensuring compliance with project specifications, relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices.

- Coordination:
- Coordinate with other discipline engineers in layout reviews, design reviews, and technical workshops.

- Review and Approval of Procedures:
- Review and approve FAT Reports, SAT Procedures, Method Statements, and attend Equipment FAT virtually.

- Design Optimization:
- Influence facilities and equipment design optimization.

- Technical Assistance:
- Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 10-15 years of experience as a Consultant or EPC in Substation Projects at 132kV, 220kV, and 400kV levels.
- Skills: Proficiency in relevant software, strong knowledge of electrical calculations and studies, and previous experience in substation projects.
