Job Description

Job Title: Foreman - Carpenter

Roles & Responsibilities:

Job Objectives:
- Assign carpentry jobs to workers to meet project milestones and ensure timely delivery, adhering to Quality and HSE objectives.

Day-to-Day Operations:
- Supervision: Directly supervise carpentry work on board ships and in the workshop, including wooden frameworks, walls, floors, stairways, and doorframes.
- Fabrication: Execute workshop fabrication and on-board architectural works such as paneling, ceiling installation, door and window fitting, upholstery, and furnishing.
- Coordination: Liaise with other discipline Foremen/Supervisors to optimize resource utilization for successful project completion.
- Equipment Checks: Conduct routine checks on equipment for oil levels, running conditions, and breakdowns.
- Planning: Assist Sr. Foremen/Supervisors in planning activities and resource and manpower allocation to meet project requirements.
- Resource Management: Ensure workers are equipped with necessary machinery, tools, and materials, maintaining them in good condition.
- Inspections: Perform inspections to ensure worker performance meets set standards.
- Reporting: Create daily progress reports and communicate significant information to the supervisor, including resource shortfalls, surpluses, HSE, and Quality concerns.
- Training: Provide personnel appraisals, identify training needs, and motivate and develop subordinates.
- Operational Continuity: Follow daily operations to ensure work continuity.

Technical Competencies:
- Experience: Must be a skilled carpenter with experience in marine-related carpentry works.
- Blueprints: Ability to follow blueprints and building plans to meet client needs.
- Tools and Equipment: Select and use appropriate tools, equipment, materials, and machines.
- Measuring Devices: Use appropriate measuring and testing devices.
- Engineering Knowledge: Knowledge of relevant engineering principles, techniques, and procedures.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Education:
- High School/ITI/Diploma in Carpentry or related field.

Experience:
- 6-7 years of relevant experience in carpentry and marine interior fit-out works.
- 1-2 years of experience as a Charge-hand Carpenter.
