Job Title: Locum Staff Nurse

Roles & Responsibilities

- Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Demonstrate effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills to ensure smooth unit operations and address complex situations.

- Pediatric Nursing Knowledge: Apply current pediatric nursing knowledge and recognize basic pathophysiology to manage disease processes effectively.

- Technical Nursing Skills: Administer medications safely, assist physicians with patient examinations and procedures, demonstrate proficiency in IV therapy and wound care.

- Emergency Management: Recognize and manage potential emergency situations competently, including participating in mock codes and emergency protocols.

- Care Planning: Develop and revise individualized care plans based on nursing diagnoses, ensuring timely and organized care implementation.

- Discharge Planning: Address discharge planning from admission through care modifications, ensuring timely and complete discharge and transfer procedures.

- Patient Care Reporting: Provide accurate, complete, and prompt reports on patient conditions and responses, using standardized SBAR for communication.

- Documentation: Maintain informative, accurate, and concise nursing documentation that adheres to AHD and JCI standards, reflecting the nursing process.

- Flexibility: Work in various hospital areas as assigned, within the scope of practice.

- Clinical Competency: Stay updated with the latest research and standards of practice, completing Core and Unit-Specific Competencies as required.

- Infection Control & Safety: Follow infection control, pain management, and wound care practices. Report and document according to relevant policies.

- Narcotic Handling: Safely handle and administer narcotic/controlled drugs, adhering to policies and procedures.

- Team Support: Support leadership, encourage team cooperation, and assist in resolving differences of opinion.

- Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate sensitivity and tolerance towards cultural differences among patients and colleagues.

- Patient & Family Involvement: Involve patients, their significant others, and healthcare providers in care planning and education.

- Special Procedures: Perform special procedures (e.g., chemotherapy administration) according to guidelines and monitoring requirements.

- Age-Appropriate Care: Provide care that is age-appropriate and meets the developmental needs of patients.

- Equipment Proficiency: Show proficiency in using medical equipment relevant to the unit.

- Safety & Maintenance: Understand and adhere to environmental safety, infection control standards, and facility management policies.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Licensing: Current license to practice nursing in the country of origin and with DHA.

- Certification: BLS certification.

- Experience: At least 2 years of nursing experience in a Pediatric Unit, ICU, ER, or OR. Private hospital experience preferred.
