Job Description
Position Title: Safety and Security Manager
Position Summary
The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of security and safety for assigned hotels, ensuring a safe environment for guests and members. This role involves conducting investigations, liaising with local enforcement officials, and managing overall safety and risk management processes. The Safety and Security Manager ensures compliance with health, safety, and security standards, and addresses all safety-related issues within the hotels.
Key Responsibilities
Safety and Security Management:
- Oversee internal and external guest accident/incident records, applying standard legal practices as necessary.
- Guide the investigative process for criminal activities at the property level.
- Manage health and safety, food safety, fire safety, security, trading standards, public health, housing, and disability compliance within allocated hotels.
- Conduct thorough investigations at the hotel level and provide advice for the protection of company assets.
- Liaise with local enforcement officials on routine inspections and accident investigations.
- Analyze statistical accident data to allocate resources to high-risk areas within hotels.
- Provide support in operations, statutory specialist training, supplier approval, and crisis management.
- Implement and manage overall safety, fire safety, and security measures.
- Actively work to reduce guest complaints related to safety and fire safety.
- Conduct audits to confirm compliance with Health and Safety/Food Hygiene standards.
- Train managers, supervisors, and colleagues on safety issues and practices.
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of five years of experience in security or a related field within the hospitality industry.
- Demonstrated supervisory and effective time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent grooming standards and a positive attitude.
- Flexibility to respond to various work situations and the ability to work under pressure.
- Proven ability to work independently and make decisions.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Experience in safety and security management, including fire safety management and risk assessment.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in various programs to prepare correspondence, produce reports, and presentations, and communicate via email.
Educational Background:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- A university degree in security and safety is advantageous.
Certifications:
- Fire Safety Management/Risk Assessment certification is beneficial.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and previous experience with Hilton Security and Safety standards is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for an eight-plus hour shift.
- Visual ability to observe team members in the workplace, analyze operations, and detect situations of concern regarding both team member and guest behaviors.
