Job Description
Job Title: Senior Buyer
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Stakeholder Engagement: Understand stakeholder requirements in terms of quality, costs, and delivery targets. Source suppliers to provide the best buy options.
2. Order Tracking: Manage requests from the RFQ stage through to PO release, ensuring service KPIs are met. Discuss potential delays with Line Manager and stakeholders, recommending solutions.
3. Process Improvement: Research opportunities to enhance processes and sourcing options, aiming to improve overall service quality.
4. Supplier Communication: Maintain continual communication with both suppliers and stakeholders to ensure alignment.
5. Quotation Analysis: Analyze and compare received quotations based on price, quality, and lead time, making recommendations accordingly.
6. Supplier Identification: Identify new suppliers to mitigate issues related to single-source vendors.
7. PO Monitoring: Track POs in the system, follow up on their status, and ensure GRNs are created for payment.
8. Operational Efficiency: Recommend strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, and support business strategies.
9. Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts to achieve favorable terms, potentially seeking advice from the legal department as needed.
10. Discount and Rebate Structuring: Re-structure discounts and annual rebates with suppliers.
11. Savings Reporting: Generate monthly savings reports based on strategic measures executed.
12. Remedial Action: Address issues with goods not meeting order specifications by informing suppliers and initiating remedial actions.
13. Vendor Performance Monitoring: Monitor vendor performance and make recommendations for procurement management review.
14. Conflict of Interest: Document and highlight any potential conflicts of interest with suppliers.
15. Policy Adherence: Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
Desired Candidate Profile:
1. Education & Experience: Engineering or Chemical Graduate (or equivalent) with 8-10 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Purchasing certification is an advantage.
2. Team Management: Ability to manage a team and drive results.
3. Customer Focus: Strong intent to understand and fulfill customer requirements.
4. Relationship Building: Skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
5. Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
6. Multitasking: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
7. Analytical Skills: Analytical with strong problem-solving abilities.
8. Attention to Detail: High attention to detail.
9. Technical Skills: Working knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
