Job Description
Job Title: QC Inspector - Mechanical
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Inspection and Quality Control:
- Conduct thorough inspections of valves and mechanical components before, during, and after overhauling, removal, installation, and testing.
- Verify adherence to project specifications, technical drawings, and industry standards (e.g., ASME, API).
- Inspect incoming materials and components to ensure they meet the required quality criteria before use in shutdown activities.
2. Testing and Verification:
- Ensure pressure testing and other functional tests on valves are conducted according to relevant procedures and standards (e.g., API).
- Document and verify test results, ensuring they meet the required performance criteria.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and quality audits performed during shutdown activities.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and other quality documentation to the QC Supervisor and Project Manager.
- Ensure documentation is properly filed and stored for future reference.
4. Compliance and Standards Adherence:
- Ensure all work complies with industry standards, codes, and regulations, including safety standards.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with the quality management system (QMS) and established procedures and protocols.
- Identify deviations from quality standards and work with the operations team to implement corrective actions.
5. Collaboration with Operations Team:
- Work closely with the Site Engineer, Mechanical Foreman, and other team members to maintain quality standards throughout the shutdown process.
- Provide technical support and guidance on quality-related matters to technicians and operators.
- Participate in pre-job meetings and post-job reviews to address quality concerns and identify improvement opportunities.
6. Non-Conformance Management:
- Identify and document non-conforming work or materials during inspections.
- Collaborate with the operations team to investigate root causes of non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions and resolve non-conformances to prevent recurrence.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze inspection and test results to identify trends and areas for improvement in the quality control process.
- Suggest enhancements to QC procedures and methodologies to improve overall quality and efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality performance of shutdown activities.
8. Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure QC activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Report safety or environmental incidents observed during inspections and testing.
- Ensure QC personnel follow safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a QC Inspector in mechanical systems, with a strong focus on valves and mechanical components.
- Certifications: Relevant industry certifications and qualifications (e.g., API, ASME).
- Skills:
- Expertise in inspection, testing, and quality control of mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and standards.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Attributes:
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
