Job Title: Electrical Designer

Purpose of the Job:

Responsible for detailed electrical designs, preparation of bill of materials, material purchase specifications, and quality assurance systems related to transformers to meet customer technical requirements and quality expectations.

Key Accountabilities:

- Design Preparation: Develop detailed electrical designs for distribution, power, and special transformers up to 10 MVA, 33 kV class.
- Design Verification: Verify electrical and mechanical design outputs.
- Tender Support: Assist the marketing department in preparing tender documents.
- Manufacturing Details: Prepare manufacturing details and design data sheets.
- Purchase Specifications: Create purchase specifications and assist the Purchase Department in vendor evaluations.
- Technical Assistance: Provide technical support to production and procurement departments during manufacturing.
- Design Deviations: Make decisions on deviations from design during manufacturing.
- Continuous Improvement: Conduct root cause analysis, resolve problems, and improve existing designs based on feedback from manufacturing or site.
- Product Development: Develop new products aligned with customer expectations, market intelligence, and competitiveness.

Specific Objectives and Performance Measurement Criteria:

- Design Optimization: Achieve design optimization and cost reduction of standard designs.
- Customer Satisfaction: Improve customer satisfaction indices, reduce complaints, and ensure acceptance during factory inspections.
- New Product Development: Contribute to new product development.
- Cost Savings: Achieve annual savings in materials.
- Expenditures: Monitor planned and actual expenditures.
- Design Timeliness: Ensure timely release of all design outputs, including BOM and manufacturing instructions to purchase and production.
- Tender Design: Prepare effective tender designs that balance cost, quality, and customer requirements.
- Guidance: Provide guidance and relevant input to mechanical designers/draftsmen.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Degree: First class Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BE Electrical).
- Experience: 5-8 years of work experience in electrical design.
- Skills: Hands-on experience in electrical design of transformers up to 10 MVA, 33 kV class; familiarity with customer technical specifications; involvement in new product development and design improvements.
- Additional Experience: Experience with customer interactions, vendor development and evaluations, and after-sales service exposure.
