Telecommunication Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities:

- Planning, designing, building, configuring, and commissioning telecommunications devices, networks, and systems, such as voice, radio, two-way, data, microwave, satellite, and digital data systems, and ensuring telecommunications systems interconnect with equipment from different manufacturers, service providers, and users.

- Compiling engineering project proposals to define goals, identify scope, background, and ascertain the cost of equipment, parts, and services.

- Evaluating and procuring new products and services from vendors.

- Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures in the provision of telecommunications systems.

- Selecting and developing new telecommunications sites by locating sites, filing documents, drawing up documents for approval, drafting construction drawings, and following through to approval.

- Determining appropriate configurations of telecommunications hardware and software, ensuring the desired performance of telecommunications equipment.

- Preparing and interpreting specifications, drawings, and regulations for the use of telecommunications equipment.

- Determining the type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, transmission lines, and equipment.

- Identifying and analyzing problems and needs of existing telecommunications systems, such as interference, intelligibility, and clarity, to determine the most appropriate means of reducing, eliminating, and avoiding current and future problems and improve communications.

- Monitoring telecommunications systems to assess the need for updates, upgrades, enhancements, preventive maintenance, and new systems.

- Assessing performance levels of system hardware and software to project future needs and developing short and long-term plans for updating equipment, adding capabilities, enhancing existing systems, and providing improved telecommunications.

- Performing any tasks assigned by the direct manager and related to the nature of their job role.

- Leading and supervising the installation team to achieve the tasks which have been assigned by his direct manager.

- Coordination between subcontractors and the client for smooth installation.

- Installation and Configuration: Responsible for installing and configuring telecommunications equipment and systems, including routers, switches, modems, antennas, and cables. Ensure proper connectivity and integration of various network components.

- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve issues related to network performance, connectivity, and equipment malfunctions. Conduct regular maintenance activities, such as testing and upgrading network components, to ensure optimal system performance.

- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system administrators, and project managers, to integrate telecommunication systems with other IT infrastructure components. Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, troubleshooting issues and offering solutions.

- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of network configurations, equipment inventories, and system documentation. Create reports on network performance, incidents, and maintenance activities, providing insights for decision-making and future planning.

Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/communication engineering, systems engineering.

- 3-5 years’ experience as a Telecommunication Engineer in the field of Aviation or Mobile telecommunication (GSM).

- Language Proficiency: Arabic-English.

- Knowledge of Aviation & Radars Projects.

- Worked in mobile Telecommunication field or similar (GSM).

- Basic understanding of Networking.

- Knowledge in structural cabling design and selection criteria (UTP, Fiber & RF cables & Antennas).

- Knowledge in link budget, RF cable loss calculations, And Selection.

- Familiar with using and calibration of test equipment’s such as (Site Master – E1 Tester, Spectrum Analyzer Bird meter).

- Good understanding of Communication terminology Such as (Modulation, Scattering, Reflection, VSWR, Doppler effect, Antennas, RF Coverage, Frequency Reuse).

- Basic knowledge of OSP work.

- Basic knowledge of Civil work Related to the telecom field.
