Support/Broadcast Engineer-Remote

Job Description:

As a Support / Broadcast Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of broadcast systems within our facility and remote bureau locations. Your responsibilities will include providing technical support to end users and operational teams, managing and monitoring software systems, resolving hardware issues, planning and implementing changes, maintaining documentation and configurations, and executing maintenance tasks. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying areas of improvement in workflows or systems and presenting plans for implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide day-to-day support for end users and broadcast systems.
- Manage and monitor software systems within the broadcast environment.
- Assist with support for various technical areas including NOC, MCR, Ingest, EVS, FCP Edit suites, library, Transmission, Radio, Digital Production, and others.
- Resolve hardware issues and coordinate with suppliers for replacements.
- Plan and implement changes as required.
- Keep documentation and configurations up to date.
- Monitor the environment to ensure optimal system operation.
- Follow up on issues with suppliers and document outcomes.
- Execute maintenance tasks according to schedule.
- Identify and present business cases for system improvements.
- Support knowledge transfer and training within the team.
- Explore areas of improvement in workflows or systems and submit plans for implementation.

Key Skills, Experience, and Education:

- Diploma/Degree in relevant engineering disciplines.
- 5 years of experience in a Broadcast Engineer role in a 24 x 7 news channel.
- Strong Broadcast & IT skills to support all broadcast IT systems.
- Solid foundation in Analog/digital audio-video technology.
- Knowledge of broadcast rules and regulations.
- Familiarity with broadcast systems from contribution through to distribution.
- Expertise in various broadcast systems such as Avid Media central NRCS, Studio Automation system, Transmission Automation system, Grass valley vision mixers & cameras, VIZRT graphic system, EVS Production System, and others.
- Familiarity with SMPTE 2110 & NDI based standards relating to IP Media Transport and Studio IP workflows.
- Proficiency in Windows & Apple Mac OSs.
- Knowledge in Video over IP & IP based contribution of Video is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with SAN and NAS.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Arabic speaker is preferred.
