Wood Estimation Engineer

Position Title: Cost Estimation Specialist

Job Description:

The post holder assumes a critical operational role in the estimation of project costs and the ongoing update of standard pricing. The primary responsibilities involve overseeing the estimation of project queries related to various furniture products, collaborating with internal departments, and ensuring accurate costing calculations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive estimations for projects involving doors, kitchens, wardrobes, and other furniture products.

2. Coordinate with the Purchase department to determine raw material rates, finalize materials, and select suppliers.

3. Collaborate with the Technical department to address project queries and gather necessary requirements.

4. Engage in correspondence with project stakeholders to collect and understand relevant project specifications.

5. Develop a Procurement plan post-project approval.

6. Compile a Price List for Standard Products and create corresponding Bill of Materials.

7. Regularly update standard furniture costing and present Gross Profit (G.P) Variance reports to management on a quarterly basis.

8. Verify costing calculations with production and update material information periodically, monitoring material wastages and consumption.

9. Innovate and estimate costs for new furniture development ideas, prepare presentations, and submit proposals.

10. Generate and analyze Project G.P Variance reports.

11. Conduct Material Cost Analysis and produce an annual cost analysis report.

12. Ensure accuracy in coding and oversee the development work for all furniture.

13. Update costing records in alignment with system or operational modifications.

Skills Required:

1. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret costing documents and drawings.

2. Strong communication skills in English.

3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, with a preference for Excel expertise.

4. Strong analytical thinking skills, capable of preparing comparisons, presentations, and analysis reports.

5. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.

6. Experience and knowledge of ERP systems.

Qualifications:

Preferred: Engineering degree

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years; 10 years preferred

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of practical problems.
