Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Translation and Dissemination Officer with expertise in English-Arabic translation to join our dynamic team at REACH. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for producing high-quality Arabic translations of existing REACH publications and materials in English, supporting overall communication and dissemination efforts in the Arabic language. This role involves translating technical and non-technical materials, communication-focused briefs, reports, and drafting communications in Arabic. The Translation and Dissemination Officer will work across various thematic areas, contributing to our humanitarian-focused portfolio, market monitoring, resilience, and early recovery.

Objectives:
- Enhance understanding, accessibility, and effective dissemination of REACH-branded communications and research outputs to Arabic audiences.
- Contribute to expanding and strengthening REACH’s engagement with key local and regional stakeholders.
- Promote the uptake of data and findings in decision-making processes.
- Support objectives for effective localization, empowerment of grassroots organizations, and accountability to affected populations.
- Consolidate internal communication channels with field teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Product Development Activities:
- Translate reports, factsheets, situation overviews, and other formal outputs into high-quality Arabic (Fusha) publications.
- Ensure quality management and review of other Arabic-language public-facing reports.
- Support REACH coordination, unit leaders, and Assessment Officers with interpretation as requested.

2. Communication and Dissemination:
- Draft, advise, or validate language for external presentations and communications.
- Support internal and external dissemination activities.
- Perform monitoring and evaluation on dissemination activities.

3. Harmonization of English/Arabic Terminology:
- Set up and maintain an up-to-date REACH Terminology Bank for Arabic.
- Follow up on standardization of key reference terminology.

4. Support to Data Collection Processes:
- Review and produce back-translation of questionnaires during research design and piloting phases.
- Review and translate select respondent-provided responses for the purpose of publishing formal datasets.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

5. Confidentiality and Data Protection:
- Maintain strict confidentiality of data and processes.

Skills:

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Arabic language, Linguistics, or a related discipline.

Technical Requirements:
- Full working proficiency and excellent writing skills in Arabic (C2 level) and English (at least C1).
- Previous experience with translation, copyediting, and drafting of high-quality written products in Arabic (Fusha).
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desirable Technical Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a humanitarian or development context is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of report production software (i.e., InDesign, Illustrator) is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of computer-assisted translation software is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Kurdish is a strong asset.
- Prior knowledge of the regional context is desirable.

Salary:
ACTED proposed monthly salary: 1100 JODs.
