Job Title: Pastry Chef

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide functional assistance and direction to the kitchen operation, focusing on the pastry section.
2. Interact with individuals outside the restaurant, including clients, suppliers, government officials, competitors, and the local community.
3. Coordinate functions and activities with other Food & Beverage department heads.
4. Assist in supervising the functioning of the pastry section employees, facilities, and costs to ensure departmental profit is achieved.
5. Control and analyze quality levels of production, presentation, guest satisfaction, merchandising, marketing, and operating costs.
6. Assist in the production, preparation, and presentation of all pastry items to ensure the highest quality.
7. Establish and maintain effective employee relations, conducting hiring, orientation, coaching, and training.
8. Participate in menu preparation and pricing policies, considering local requirements, market needs, competition, trends, recipes, costs, and availability of products.
9. Supervise the service of all pastry items in the outlets, ensuring staffing levels are optimized.
10. Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
11. Oversee correct ordering and receiving procedures.
12. Keep the management informed of all relevant information in operational and personal matters.
13. Check all food preparation to determine the type and quality of items to be prepared.
14. Ensure proper handling and use of kitchen utensils and equipment by staff.
15. Assist in composing new recipes and menu ideas.
16. Control cooking procedures, portioning, garnishing, and presentation of all dishes.
17. Participate in special projects when required.
18. Demonstrate a good knowledge of all Rixos Hotels UAE facilities, answering guest questions promptly and courteously.
19. Handle guest complaints or problems promptly and report incidents to the Executive Chef/Pastry Sous Chef.
20. Demonstrate knowledge of fire prevention and follow the restaurant evacuation plan.
21. Be security-conscious and report suspicious circumstances to management.
22. Interact with other departmental management, maintaining solid working relationships.
23. Liaise with Materials, Outlet Managers, and Engineering for efficient purchasing, stock control, inventory control, and maintenance.
24. Meet and interact with representatives of the local community and potential guests.
25. Make recommendations to management for modernization and improvement plans.
26. Communicate regularly with Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to keep them informed of policies, procedures, and guest comments.
27. Enforce health, safety, and emergency procedures.
28. Maximize employee productivity to minimize payroll costs.
29. Assist in building an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, training, and development.
30. Ensure all employees understand and adhere to Rixos Hotels UAE policies and procedures.
31. Plan and organize training activities within the department.
32. Conduct Employee Performance Appraisals.
33. Participate in scheduled training or development programs.
34. Ensure employees provide friendly, courteous, and efficient service at all times.

Qualifications:
- At least 7-10 years post-apprenticeship experience in a similar industry or 4-5 star establishment.
