Job Description
Job Title: Physical Therapist:
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage inpatients with respiratory conditions requiring physiotherapy aged 0-18 years.
- Provide respiratory management for patients with non-CF bronchiectasis, PCD, Neuromuscular conditions (including SMA), Tracheostomies, long-term ventilation, NIV, and other respiratory diseases.
- Provide specialized care in respiratory clinics, including non-CF bronchiectasis clinic and PCD clinic.
- Manage an outpatient caseload.
- Offer advisory and liaison services to patients, families/caregivers, physiotherapy colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate closely with the Pediatric Pulmonologist, PICU Respiratory therapists, and the pediatric physiotherapy team.
- Supervise junior physiotherapists and staff nurses and provide cross-cover to wards, PICU, and NICU as needed, including late shifts, weekend work, and on-call duties.
- Act as a source of expertise in respiratory management for patients with non-CF bronchiectasis, PCD, Neuromuscular conditions (including SMA), Tracheostomies, long-term ventilation, NIV, and other respiratory diseases.
- Ensure compliance with communication processes and the chain of command structure in reporting patient-related incidents, complaints, or concerns.
- Maintain compliance with safety requirements for physiotherapy medical equipment, including functional and calibration checks, and reporting equipment repair needs.
- Adhere to clinical policies and procedures, including patient and equipment safety and infection prevention and control measures.
- Participate in department staff meetings, unit projects, and quality improvement activities.
- Serve as a clinical resource to patients, relatives, caregivers, and other medical staff.
- Maintain availability and proper inventory of physiotherapy medical equipment and supplies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy or Physical Therapy.
- Current license of practice in country of origin or DHA, UAE.
Professional Experience:
Must have:
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience post-certification as a Pediatric Physiotherapist.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
Quality and Accuracy:
- Understand the hospital mission and vision and provide excellent customer service following correct patient care processes and clinical standards.
- Communicate effectively regarding patient-related incidents, complaints, or concerns.
- Adhere to clinical policies and procedures, ensuring patient and equipment safety and infection prevention and control.
- Independently perform assigned clinical and technical tasks, prioritizing tasks and demonstrating critical thinking.
- Perform initial and comprehensive patient care assessments following clinical standards and guidelines.
- Provide appropriate physiotherapy services and modalities based on patient needs and diagnosis.
- Monitor department quality measures and participate in quality improvement activities.
