Roles & Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial transactions. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in reconciling account balances, preparing financial statements, and providing valuable insights to improve efficiency and spending. Below are the key roles and responsibilities associated with this position:

- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile bank accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results to management, highlighting key financial insights.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Spot errors and suggest ways to enhance efficiency and control spending, contributing to overall cost-effectiveness.
- Provide technical support and advice on Management Accountant tasks, leveraging expertise in financial management.
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures to streamline operations and enhance effectiveness.
- Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers, providing guidance and support to ensure consistent performance.
- Participate in financial standards setting and the forecast process, contributing to the department's goal-setting process.
- Prepare financial statements and produce budgets according to schedule, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure adherence to established procedures and regulations.
- Support the month-end and year-end close process, coordinating activities and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with the UAE VAT System, staying updated on regulatory changes and implementing necessary adjustments.
- Liaise with the Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to improve financial procedures and optimize performance.

Desired Candidate Profile:

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:

- Proven experience in the retail industry (Retail Store Chains, Supermarkets, Hypermarkets) as a senior accountant, demonstrating a strong understanding of industry-specific accounting practices.
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures, with an in-depth understanding of the UAE VAT System.
- Awareness of business trends and their impact on financial operations.
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements and general ledger functions, including the month-end/year-end close process.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, with advanced MS Excel skills, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, with strong aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
- Relevant certification (e.g., CMA or CPA) will be preferred, demonstrating professional expertise in accounting and finance.
