Job Opportunity: Yard Planning Specialist

Job Description:

Job Purpose:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Yard Planning Specialist to join our team. The primary responsibility involves providing comprehensive yard planning services to ensure productivity, efficiency, quality of work, safety, and time management. The role also requires monitoring, controlling, and aligning with yard equipment requirements as per operational demand.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Understand the manual and automatic yard planning process, SOPs, and work instructions to ensure vessel discharge aligns with the defined Yard Strategy.
2. Allocate locations for transshipment containers, considering factors such as berthing plan, port of destination, distance covered, line operator, weight, and container type.
3. Identify and allocate locations for import containers, ensuring proximity to the berth and sufficient space availability.
4. Plan the discharge of empty containers, adhering to MTY segregation, instructions, and demands.
5. Plan yard activities well in advance, following the yard strategy and system filters to minimize unproductive moves and maintain inbound containers with minimal delays.
6. Create exception filters in advance and allocate special containers received from vessels to avoid yard delays.
7. Ensure housekeeping activities are completed before vessel berthing, complying with terminal KPIs.
8. Handover information to the relieving planner during shift change, highlighting critical cases in the system.
9. Collaborate with yard strategists for continuous improvement in vessel discharge planning.
10. Address requests from line operators via email and discuss ITT-related plans with Yard strategists for smooth transportation.
11. Plan gate cargo based on the daily game plan and gate movement to achieve optimal external truck turnaround time.
12. Follow SOPs and WIs, including separate stacking requests, HAZ, OOG, and special container planning requirements.
13. Distribute discharge cargo evenly across yard locations and ensure special cargo is executed as per SOPs and WIs.
14. Report any incorrect updates by yard equipment operators during live vessel discharge operations to management.
15. Provide daily yard status reports and yard inventory reports to management and customers as requested.
16. Fill and archive yard planning-related papers following standard operating procedures.
17. Perform other duties assigned by management from time to time.
18. Optimize quay and yard operations to achieve set KPIs.
19. Responsible for safety and discipline in the work area.
20. Ensure compliance with Fatal Risk Standards, Safe Work Practices, and HSE policy.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

- Experience in container terminal operations: 3 - 5 years.
- Work experience in a container terminal operating system.
- Education: Diploma/Graduate.
- Excellent computer operating skills.
