Power System Engineer

Job Title: Power System Engineer – Power System Analysis Expert

Roles & Responsibilities

- Power System Analysis:
- Lead and conduct power system studies, including transient and steady-state stability, voltage stability, harmonic, and power quality studies.
- Perform load flow studies to assess network overloads and identify reactive power needs.
- Execute grid integration studies for renewable power plants, including Solar PV inverters, wind energy systems, HVDC, and FACTS (STATCOM, SVC, SCG).
- Conduct short circuit analysis, insulation coordination studies, arc flash analysis, and contingency analysis.

- Renewable Integration:
- Model and assess the impact of renewable energy sources (Solar, Wind, BESS) on power systems.
- Evaluate operational challenges and verify grid code compliance for renewable energy systems.
- Perform reactive power compensation studies and select appropriate surge arresters.

- Software Expertise:
- Utilize software tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, and DigSILENT for various power system studies and analysis.

- Grid Components:
- Design and optimize grid components, perform ferro-resonance and secondary arc current extinction studies.
- Assess and design reactive power elements and filters for renewable energy systems.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Education & Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in power system studies, with at least 5 years as a lead Power System Analyst.
- Proven experience in power system analysis for grid integration, renewable power plants, and associated studies.

- Skills & Knowledge:
- Expertise in power system analysis and grid integration, including voltage stability, harmonic studies, LVRT, and fault ride-through studies.
- Proficiency in using power system software such as PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, and DigSILENT.
- Experience with substation and grid integration studies, including short circuit analysis, insulation coordination, and arc flash analysis.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and their impact on power systems.
