Job Description

Job Title: Commissioning Engineer

Overview:
Alpin Limited, a leading multidisciplinary built-asset consultancy, is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our team. The role involves reviewing design documents, conducting site inspections, overseeing commissioning processes, and ensuring compliance with ASHRAE standards and sustainability certifications such as Estidama and LEED.

Senior Consultant, Commissioning Authority

Key Responsibilities:

Commissioning and Technical Support:
- Commissioning Tasks: Contribute to commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy efficiency retrofits, and demand response projects.
- Sustainability Compliance: Help clients achieve required commissioning tasks for Estidama/LEED ratings.
- System Monitoring: Monitor HVAC systems with building automation systems and data loggers to troubleshoot and optimize control sequences.
- Hands-On Testing: Perform testing of HVAC, lighting, and control systems in new and existing buildings.
- Documentation: Support the development of commissioning plans, field reports, assessment evaluations, and measurement and verification reports.

Project Management:
- Design Reviews: Perform design reviews and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate with customers, contractors, and utility representatives, managing project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure consistent and high-quality project deliverables, maintaining detailed and accurate project records.

Technical Leadership:
- Innovation and Methodology: Develop and refine engineering methodologies, tools, and standards.
- Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of industry developments and technology advancements, contributing to Alpin’s reputation as a thought leader.
- Oversee Activities: Oversee pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities, ensuring efficient execution and testing.

Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Client Communication: Maintain client relationships, providing constant updates and resolving issues.
- Documentation: Prepare project closure documentation, including performance and financial reports.
- HSE Compliance: Contribute to Alpin's Integrated Management System and Environmental Impact Assessment, following all legal and company quality, environment, and health & safety policies.

Skills and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Certifications: LEED GA/AP and/or PQP credentials; commissioning certification is a plus.
- Experience: 1-3 years of HVAC and controls experience in design, construction, energy evaluation, and commissioning.
- Sustainability Standards: Knowledge of LEED, BREEAM, Green Star, QSAS, or Estidama.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of ASHRAE guidelines, complex HVAC systems, TAB procedures, and relevant codes and standards.
- Project Management: Experience in developing and tracking budgets, managing multiple large-scale projects, and ensuring timely project completion.
- Communication: Excellent written and spoken English, strong presentation and communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: High level of initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions.
- Professionalism: Ability to interact at all levels, maintain detailed project records, and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with Energy Pro.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding of site safety procedures.
