Job Description

Job Title: Travel Accountant

Roles & Responsibilities:

We are a reputable travel and tourism agency based in Dubai, seeking a dedicated Travel Accountant to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for various accounting tasks related to travel and tourism operations. Below are the key responsibilities:

1. Sales and Expenses Reporting: Prepare sales and expenses reports to provide insights into the financial performance of the agency.

2. Employee File Management: Upload employee files onto the system and organize related documents for each employee.

3. Audit Travel & Expense Claims: Audit travel and expense claims to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

4. Training: Conduct training sessions for the team on system and process changes to ensure smooth operations.

5. Supplier and Agent Accounts Reconciliation: Analyze and reconcile central suppliers' and agents' accounts to maintain accurate financial records.

6. Travel Agent Commissions Processing: Process travel agent commissions and incentives using the Lodging Management System.

7. Payments Processing: Collaborate with reservations, accounts payable, and vendor setup departments to ensure accurate and timely payments to travel suppliers and airlines.

8. Accounting Entries: Ensure that daily accounting entries are correctly recorded in the system.

9. Journal Entries: Complete monthly journal entries for sales, bonuses, leave provisions, and expenses accruals.

10. Payment Collection Follow-up: Follow up and send reminders to travelers for payment collection.

11. Issue Resolution: Handle higher-level concerns and complex tasks such as detailed reporting, data analysis, and issue resolution.

12. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare ad-hoc or periodic analysis and reporting projects on expense activity, sales performance, trending destinations, and policy compliance.

13. Process Improvement: Identify areas of opportunity, recommend solutions, and implement improvements for achieving optimal efficiency and effectiveness.

14. Metrics Maintenance: Partner with management to maintain departmental metrics, service level agreements, and benchmarking.

15. Audit Support: Work closely with the audit team regarding trial balances, ledgers, journal entries, and supplier and agent statements.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- Minimum 2 years of experience in travel and tourism accounting in UAE or home country.
- University degree in Economics, Accountancy, Finance, or International Relations.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing payment deadlines, holiday package alterations, and last-minute updates.
- Proactive attitude with attention to detail and a sense of urgency in completing tasks.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software.
- Preferably from Kerala.

Salary:
AED 2,000 to 3,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
