Job Description

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Role Purpose:
The Senior Accountant holds the responsibility of overseeing and verifying financial and accounting transactions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations. This role entails maintaining ledger integrity and conducting various accounting tasks meticulously.

Responsibilities:
- Receive, verify, and post local and import purchase invoices.
- Facilitate external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts, and providing necessary information to auditors.
- Execute monthly closing entries related to provisions.
- Manage fixed asset capitalization and maintain depreciation schedules.
- Review and process post-dated payments and receipt vouchers.
- Validate payment vouchers before obtaining authorized signatures.
- Monitor banking transactions and reconciliations, oversee import/export documentation, manage costs, handle cash flow operations, and prepare financial statements.
- Supervise financial accounting and record-keeping activities including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and internal sales controls.
- Implement financial policies, systems, procedures, and controls for international business operations.
- Provide monthly management information system (MIS) reports, including profit and loss (P&L) and balance sheets, with detailed analysis.
- Prepare periodic statutory reports and returns accurately and timely to meet international business requirements.
- Maintain positive working relationships with external entities such as banks, financial institutions, and auditors.
- Periodically calculate VAT liability and ensure timely filing of returns.
- Maintain Trial Balance and establish an accurate chart of accounts for precise financial reporting.
- Review calculation, posting, and disbursement of monthly salaries, leave salaries, service end benefits, commissions, and other employee benefits.
- Conduct monthly reconciliation of current accounts between international business and headquarters.
- Collaborate with the accounts team and external auditors for annual audit processes.
- Generate ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts within the retail industry.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Oracle applications.
- Demonstrated proficiency in task management, prioritization, and execution.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting principles, methods, and standards.
- Ability to analyze and interpret accounts data, and prepare accurate reports, statements, and projections.
- Thorough knowledge of local government financial and accounting regulations, banking, accounting standards, company financial policies, and procedures.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
