Lead Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Oil and Gas Industry)

Location: UAE

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Project Leadership: Act as the single point of responsibility for all mechanical equipment engineering design deliverables, ensuring compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards, and client policies.

2. Technical Expertise: Demonstrate specialist knowledge of major mechanical equipment types and familiarity with relevant international codes and standards in the Oil and Gas industry.

3. Team Management: Coordinate the Mechanical team, providing support to Project or Engineering Managers, and ensuring discipline activities and deliverables are executed according to schedule and budget.

4. Planning and Execution: Support the planning, scheduling, and execution of discipline activities, including manhour estimating, schedule preparation, bid/tendering, and subcontractor management.

5. Progress Monitoring: Manage and report progress of all Mechanical engineering and design budgets, identify areas of concern, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

6. Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with licensors, equipment vendors, OEMs, and subcontractors to conclude project deliverables, define scopes of work, and review vendor documents.

7. Technical Support: Provide technical support to the site, including material inspection, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and resolution of technical queries during design, construction, and commissioning phases.

8. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with management of change processes, participate in project safety and design reviews, and promote safe behavior and quality delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

9. Client Interaction: Collaborate with the client's Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance staff to ensure project completion within technical scope and schedule.

10. Risk Management: Take ownership of risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and closure for mechanical engineering disciplines.

11. Technical Advisory: Provide technical advice and solutions to various technical problems within the discipline, promoting continuous improvement and smarter ways of working.

12. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation, participate in lessons learned sessions, and ensure knowledge sharing within the team.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, with at least 5 years in a similar role, preferably in the UAE or Middle East.
- Experience in gas processing FEED is mandatory.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment, control systems, and international codes and standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Primavera 3.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
