Job Title: Registered Nurse - Dermatology

Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Assists the doctor in a variety of dermatological procedures, including skin biopsy, electrocautery, cryotherapy, phototherapy, photopneumatic therapy, molluscum removal, paring, laser treatment for hair removal, microdermabrasion, chemical peeling, and Botox injection.
2. Conducts a thorough assessment of patients before and after medication administration, monitoring for potential side effects, and providing comprehensive patient education on medication indications, side effects, and possible complications.
3. Performs medication appropriateness reviews and follows the ten rights of medication administration.
4. Executes minor procedures such as wound dressing, suture removal, blood glucose monitoring, and oxygen administration.
5. Applies aseptic techniques during procedures and ensures compliance with infection control protocols.

Supervisory and Training Responsibilities:
6. Supervises novice nurses in performing triage, blood glucose monitoring, and other nursing-related procedures.
7. Demonstrates professional behaviour in providing nursing care and upholds nursing standards.
8. Takes responsibility for the ward/unit in the absence of the head nurse, as assigned by nursing administration.
9. Participates in performance improvement activities within the nursing department.
10. Provides mentorship and guidance to junior staff, contributing to their ongoing education and professional development.

Administrative and Documentation Responsibilities:
11. Demonstrates competency in nursing documentation and the nursing process.
12. Maintains and updates all relevant patient documents and medical records in adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
13. Ensures the confidentiality of patient records.
14. Assesses patient and family education needs, providing health education accordingly.
15. Takes an active role in ward/unit meetings and attends to duties as assigned by superiors.
16. Stays abreast of scientific advances and utilizes technology to enhance patient care.

Safety and Compliance:
17. Competent in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation techniques.
18. Adheres to established Nursing Department Policies and Procedures.
19. Demonstrates awareness of fire safety, patient safety, infection control, and other necessary precautions as per hospital policies.

Professional Development:
20. Actively involved in updating and continuing education to maintain professional clinical practice.

Miscellaneous:
21. Performs other duties as assigned by superiors.
