Job Opportunity: Terminal Operations Supervisor
Job Description:
Job Purpose:
Join our team as a Terminal Operations Supervisor to plan and supervise advance vessel, yard, gate, and examination activities. Your role is crucial to maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of all terminal activities and operations, ensuring compliance with safety and discipline standards.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Initiate communication with agents/central planning office in advance to obtain vessel particulars following DPW standing instructions.
2. Coordinate with the berth planning team, providing necessary information for proper vessel allocation.
3. Collaborate with Cargo control and vessel agents to confirm data accuracy in the system, addressing potential exceptions.
4. Reserve grounding positions for containers 4 hours before vessel berths.
5. Ensure planners follow the yard strategy during planning, updating vessel particulars before planning begins.
6. Follow up with Advance planners to ensure cut-off time application and plan approval before vessel arrival.
7. Monitor and evaluate Advance planners' performance, maximizing optimization opportunities in the crane plan.
8. Ensure Planning Staff follows Standard Operating Procedures and smart planning manners per DPW standards.
9. Communicate effectively with agents/consignees, addressing requests and maintaining timely housekeeping of containers.
10. Coordinate with vessel and line agents to resolve discrepancies, handover approved vessel plans to the Dynamic planner on time.
11. Verify yard inventory, identify missing containers, and propose areas for operational improvement and system automation.
12. Assist in periodical scheduled performance reviews with reporting personnel.
13. Ensure compliance with Fatal Risk Standards, Safe Work Practices, and HSE policy.
14. Optimize Quay and yard operations to achieve set KPI.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in container terminal operations: 4 - 6 years.
- Supervisory role experience: 1 - 2 years.
- Understanding of vessel characteristics/dimensions and factors impacting vessel stability.
- Work experience in a container terminal operating system.
- Education: Diploma/Graduate, preferably in Marine Studies.
- Excellent computer operating skills.
