Network Engineer

Job Description: Network Engineer | Group Technology & Digital Platform | Cairo, Egypt

Overview of the Role:
The Network Engineer will provide technical expertise to support Network infrastructure. The role involves managing, operating, supervising, and implementing all network infrastructure components. Additionally, it includes designing, reviewing, configuring, and project-managing network projects for all business lines in Egypt.

What You Will Do:

Application Integration:
- Deploy network solutions (LAN/WAN/WIFI/Security).
- Manage network infrastructure with Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and access points.
- Handle incidents and provide timely resolution with minimal business impact.
- Perform changes across the LAN and WIFI infrastructure.
- Perform software upgrades & hardware refresh of network devices.
- Support key projects to ensure successful completion.
- Report project activities and manage internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals in the organization, including L1 Network Engineers, Network Architects, and System Administrators. Collaborate with vendors and other third-party providers to support the organization's network needs.
- Provide support during IT and security audits and any other compliance reviews.
- Supplier management and coordination to resolve technical issues.
- Remote user/end-user interaction to resolve technical issues.
- Provide support for IP Telephony system.
- Provide support for structured cabling network infrastructure.
- Vendor Management for network project implementation and to resolve network issues.

Incident & Service Request Management:
- Resolve assigned Incidents and Service requests within agreed SLAs.
- Responsible for handling business-critical incidents, engaging vendors, and coordinating with other teams for speedy resolution.
- Prepare root cause analysis and implement remedial measures to avoid recurrence of the incident.
- Assist cross-functional teams for speedy resolution of Incidents.

Continuous Improvement Initiative:
- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing networks; develop and implement solutions for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Identify network equipment reaching end of support and plan to upgrade to the newest model/versions.
- Periodic review of network capacity report and recommend upgrades.
- Conduct health checks of networks, review reports, and implement recommendations.
- Plan and upgrade the network to the latest versions.

Other Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain documentation of network architecture and configurations.
- Conduct periodic knowledge transfer sessions for Systems Engineers and other horizontal teams.
- Mentor and provide guidance to System Engineers.
- Identify and provide mitigating options for Infrastructure-related risks.
- Provide execution and delivery support related to Technology solution delivery.
- Plan and deliver network expansion for all businesses in Egypt in coordination with the IT head office in Dubai.
- Maintain the operations of the existing networks.
- Manage the network operations team to ensure smooth network operations and timely issue resolution.
- Work closely with network consultants and development teams to ensure network plans and designs meet standards and business requirements.

Skills:

Required Skills to be Successful:
- 6-8 years of experience in supporting and implementing IT Network and security infrastructure in a large organization, preferably in real estate and/or retail.
- Experience in Cisco routing and switching, access points, and IP telephony.
- Network project management experience.

About the Team:
The role will report to the Senior IT Manager and will be based in Cairo Festival City.

What Equips You for the Role:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computers, Telecommunication, or a related discipline.
- Cisco Certificates: both CCNA, CCNP.
- Knowledge of ITIL Practices.
- Expertise in implementing and providing operational support for network and security Infrastructure in a large organization.
- Strong experience in network planning, design, configuration, and operations.
- Strong IT Network Project management skills.
- Configure switches, routers, and other network devices as needed to support the organization's operations. This could include setting up VLANs, configuring routing protocols, and managing network security.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, Network Security.
- Experience in configuring, managing, troubleshooting BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.
- Understanding of WAN Optimization solutions.
- Cisco SDWAN experience is required.
