Job Description

"**Job Title:** Credit Analyst

Department: Head Office Credit

Location: Bahrain

Reports To: Group Credit Head of Wholesale Banking

Job Purpose:

The Credit Analyst is responsible for supporting, promoting, monitoring, and controlling the Bank's pursuit of good quality loans and other risk assets within the Corporate Credit portfolio. This role involves credit assessment, portfolio review, and ensuring adherence to credit policies, procedures, and risk appetite.

Principal Responsibilities, Accountabilities, and Deliverables:

1. Credit Review and Underwriting:

- Assess complex financials, projections, and industry risks.

- Improve the quality and timeliness of Credit Application Forms (CAFs).

- Make clear recommendations to the appropriate credit committee.

- Ensure timely submission of credit proposals aligned with risk appetite.

2. Portfolio Review, Policies, and Procedures:

- Conduct regular portfolio reviews of corporate and sovereign obligors.

- Interpret and adopt all Credit policies and procedures.

- Escalate key risk issues related to the credit portfolio.

- Ensure adherence to Group's Risk Appetite Statement and related policies.

3. Business Support:

- Support the first line of defense across various geographies and transactions.

- Provide support in interpreting the Group Credit Policy and related standards.

- Monitor developments in covered countries and conduct annual reviews.

4. Credit Application Forms (CAF) Oversight:

- Ensure CAF compliance with group policies and requirements.

- Monitor completeness of annual reviews and timely delivery.

- Report on sectors within a country and assist in wider reports.

5. Risk Management and Compliance:

- Balance risk-prudence with market practices/pressures.

- Demonstrate compliance with bank policies, standards, and procedures.

- Stay aware of regulatory requirements in Bahrain and other markets.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge:

- Decision-making skills to avoid high-risk loans.

- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with accounting standards.

- Up-to-date knowledge of legal, accounting, and regulatory guidelines.

- Analytical and interpreting skills on exposures data and market/economy knowledge.

Education/Certifications:

- Minimum postgraduate degree in Economics, Finance, or Business Administration.

Experience:

- Minimum 10 years of banking experience with a focus on Credit functions.

- Experience across various products, markets, and business types.

Personal Attributes:

- Working knowledge of standard software applications.

- Contemporary knowledge of credit risk-related software.

- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.

- Quick learner adaptable to changes in technology and the banking environment.

Note: Experience in GCC markets is preferred but not essential."
