Job Description

Job Title: Security Manager

Position Overview

The Security Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Director of Security with the daily management of security operations. This includes ensuring the protection and safety of property assets, employees, guests, and property, as well as the prevention and response to accidents and fires. The Security Manager ensures continuous protection measures are in place, and maintains logs, certifications, and documents as required by law and Standard Operating Procedures.


Candidate Profile

Education and Experience:

- Option 1: High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 3 years of experience in security, loss prevention, or a related professional area.

- Option 2: Associate degree from an accredited university in Criminal Justice or a related major with at least 1 year of experience in security, loss prevention, or a related professional area.


Core Responsibilities

Managing Security Operations:

- Assist in the development and implementation of emergency procedures.

- Recommend and follow up on actions for security breaches.

- Conduct investigations into property asset losses and refer findings to appropriate management for resolution.

- Deploy security personnel strategically to monitor and protect property assets.

- Ensure compliance with Corporate Security safety and security management guidelines and procedures.

- Document and report employee accidents and general liability incidents to the Claims Reporting Service.

- Conduct regular patrols of the entire property and parking areas.

- Recognize and commend successes within areas of responsibility.

- Address guest problems, settle disputes, resolve grievances, and negotiate conflicts.

- Identify and recommend actions to minimize physical hazards and unsafe work practices.

- Implement action plans to monitor and control risk.

- Stay informed of local criminal activities that could impact the property.

- Maintain and submit required reports and documentation regarding property and parking area patrols.

- Inspect and ensure all security equipment is fully operational.

- Provide timely medical attention when necessary.

- Conduct performance appraisals for hourly employees in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

- Identify educational needs and develop formal training programs or classes, including instructing others.

- Complete disciplinary procedures and documentation as per Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and support the Peer Review Process.

- Maintain first aid and CPR certifications required for security officers.

- Implement local authority requirements for security and safety compliance.

This role requires a proactive approach to managing security operations, ensuring the safety and protection of all stakeholders, and maintaining high standards of documentation and compliance.
